Section 2 - police not contacting witnesses

Hi,

This is a rather strange case, and I would appreciate advice please.

In November 2020 I was placed under a section 2. However, there were witnesses to say what I said was true. Those witnesses contacted the police by phone, wrote a declaration statement online, and called the hospital directly. They were ignored.

One of the psychologists was leaving that week and was too busy to speak to them.

Now, the day I was sectioned an electrician came into my property due to flashing lights. He discovered monitoring equipment inside my son’s bedroom. Believing the perpetrator was nearby he enacted his company safety policy. He called in every thirty minutes to ensure his own safety from the perpetrator (he was not at all worried about me).

He then informed my building security of his discovery.

Later that night I panicked and walked into a police station believing I was being followed. It was after midnight and I was a little drunk by then.

I said that I was being followed and that there were devices found in my home. I was placed under a section 2 without witnesses being contacted.

When in hospital, before meeting the psychologists I spoke to the concierge and electrician. Both were willing to speak to the doctors and to police to validate my story. The psychologists did not wish to.

The following day the building concierge called the police, wrote a report stating that everything I said was true, and also called the hospital as the police had very little interest. He was flabbergasted that he was ignored.

For 6 days I had no change of clothing. No washing items. No toothbrush.

On the seventh day I finally met a psychologist after the initial sectioning. I was deemed non violent with no need for medication.

The staff at the hospital witnessed my calls with the electrician and concierge, hearing what I said was true. The psychologist did not wish to speak with them.

I was released and the crime was never investigated. It breaks my heart that the perpetrator was never found. My son was 2.5 years old and was being watched. I repeat, there were witnesses to this.

My reputation has been shattered. The police still refuse to speak to the witnesses, who recently stated again that they want to help the police to catch the perpetrator. The police continue to refuse.

What are my options please?

I understand that the police officer made a decision. But I cannot accept that witnesses were then ignored, despite many attempts to contact them. I was, one way or the other, falsely imprisoned.

Thank you,

Gareth

Given the passage of time. Your option would be to lodge a complaint with the Police providing the witness statements and details of the equipment and where it is now and previously:
Submit a complaint | Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)

As for the detainment. Did you appeal your detainment ?
