Mental Health Act assessment request not taken to appropriate interview after triage

Dear all AMHP’s Has anyone Triaged a MHA assessment request and put it on hold as the Nearest Relative has said they are going to see the Patient, “Their Wife” and wanted to use the least restrictive option first.
Secondly, have any AMHPs Not taken forward a MHA assessment request as the NR has said they and the brother-in-law could handle the situation and call appropriate services if needed, in this case, they called the CRHTT who came and, after administering medication, went, leaving the family at home.
I ask because I would like to use your actions in an Employment Tribunal, with your permission. I would only say you were AMHPs and answered my forum question, and you would affirm or swear your answers were truthful. You could put that in an Email to me at nasher.61@gmail.com or answer on this forum
Thank you all for reading

Hi Paul - I think there’s a bit of confusion about what you’re asking which is why you haven’t had a response yet.

It’s very common for Local Authorities to arrange assessments and then AMHPs to determine someone doesn’t meet the criteria for detention for many reasons. Sometimes that’s because the person struggling has family that are willing to provide assistance and because risks can be adequately managed by community mental health services. This isn’t an uncommon occurrence.

However, this may not be the correct forum. I would suggest that if this reflects a situation you’ve been in yourself - contacting the relevant AMHP would be your best bet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply Zac. I have reworded my question and so hope it makes more sence now.

Hi There
It seems that I may have caused some confusion with my last post about AMHP’s Triaging MHA assessments requests.

I hope this is clearer. I was an AMHP until recently but was dismissed due to using the least restrictive option when Triaging two cases. Nobody came to any harm due to my actions

Have any other AMHP’s when Triaging a MHA assessment referal not continued the referal to an appropriate interview, with Drs and all the other possible pariphernalia, as the merits of the case do not meet the criteria/level of need for a face to face interview with the client and then used the principle of the “Least Restrictive Option” to resolve the issues that led to the referal in the first place .

I hope thats clearer

Until recently and dismissed lead me to infer that you were given the sack. Have I understood this correctly?
