Advising client of appeal rights

If the client is discharged by the tribunal with immediate effect, when we receive the decision, do we need to advise the client about appeal rights, or is this not necessary because the client has been discharged?

I am not sure why your client would want to appeal if they are no longer detained

I think you may be asking whether you could be pulled up at peer review for not doing this. I would say that it is not necessary although , strangely, I have recently had a client who did wish to appeal a discharge decision as he subsequently decided that he did not wish to be discharged ….

Bizarrely I had something quite similar many years ago. I dealt with a Tribunal for a s3 client and he was discharged, much to his surprise, but not to mine!

He sacked me for getting him discharged and then attempted to appeal the decision.
