Hi all,

I am very new in post as MHAA (in my first week) and was seeking some clarification around dates on [H5](https://www.mentalhealthlaw.co.uk/Form_H5:_Section_20_-_renewal_of_authority_for_detention) forms.
For the field, “The patient is liable to be detained for a period ending on [date authority for detention is due to expire]”, is this for the date the current section ends or the date the renewed section will end?

Thanks

I believe that’s the date it would expire if it weren’t extended.

Thanks for your reply. That was my initial interpretation but some colleagues cast a little doubt over it. Luckily I was able to speak to the RC and clarify it the same day.
